The development of cloud computing technology has opened a new chapter for the advancement of information technology. Cloud-native applications built on the basis of cloud computing are rising rapidly and becoming the focus of industry attention.

Cloud-native applications refer to applications specifically architected and developed for a cloud environment, in order to fully utilize the elasticity, agility and other features of cloud platforms. Relying on the elastic computing, storage and networking resources of cloud computing, the cloud-native application architecture built with new technologies like microservices and containers can achieve fast deployment, efficient operation and management, and cost elasticity.

Currently, the most mature fields for cloud-native application development are mainly e-commerce, Internet, finance and gaming. Mature Internet companies like Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance and others have grown on the architecture of cloud-native applications. In addition, the financial industry has also become an area where cloud-native applications are evolving rapidly, with many financial operations migrating to the cloud and rebuilt into microservice architectures.

The market potential for cloud-native applications is enormous in the future. By 2025, global public cloud service spending will reach $497 billion, a year-over-year increase of 20.7%. Industry concentration is increasing and the market share held by leading cloud service providers continues rising. Over the next few years, cloud-native applications will also accelerate their penetration into traditional industries like manufacturing and energy, replacing traditional business software to become the cornerstone of digital transformation.

The building blocks of cloud-native applications are mainly microservice architecture and container technology, relying on container orchestration systems like Kubernetes and service mesh as the communication infrastructure. This new distributed system architecture over cloud computing solves the technical challenges faced by traditional systems and realizes high scalability and agility.

With the continuous rapid growth of cloud computing, it is predicted that 80% of enterprise businesses will run on the cloud by 2025 globally. Cloud-native applications will lead the digital transformation across industries and become an important approach for enterprise application development over a significant period of time going forward.
